Sparse piano, then a correction offered before anyone can misread him: this isn't anger, this is clarity. The distinction matters because the hook says he is choosing violence internally — the war is inward, and the record keeps insisting on that. He was grieving, now he is seasoned. Pain was seeping and demons creeping and now he sees it. The mechanic is the collapse of image maintenance. He is past protecting one, the ego cracked, the truth got loud enough that he cannot mute it.

He used to play blind and act like he didn't notice. He had it bottled and ready to explode, sat with it, and realized he chose. Then he redefines manhood in the plainest terms available: boys moving in rage, killing over ego to prove rank, while real manhood is the war inside the mind. Verse two gives up the secret he has been sitting on — he wanted art, classical music, painting, an actual revival, and went dark instead to prove he was gifted, building a persona to feel lifted.

The bridge lands the thesis: life will sit you down, or God will. What it cost was his body breaking under weight he chose to lift. What came after is a man handing you an invoice instead of a grievance.

I ain't telling you what you paid, I'm telling you what you owe

The sound

Em7 to Em9 to Cmaj7 to C#dim7 to B7, that diminished passing chord doing the bruising; verse two moves Em7 to Em/D to Cmaj7, sparse piano lead, minimal kick and rim, ending unresolved.
